Anyone who read our 2023 review will clearly remember my impressions after stepping off the Prestige M8; I was dazzled and wrote: \u201cAn authentic villa on the sea, capable of expressing the volumes typical of an 85-foot superyacht within a catamaran of just 20 meters.\u201d A cutting-edge power catamaran that had won me over from every perspective. But as we know, in the world of yachting, perfection is not a destination, but a starting line.<\/span><\/p>

And it is precisely from that line that the shipyard, backed by the pencil of Garroni Design, charted the course for the new Prestige M8 Evo. Not a simple restyling, but a true maturation of the project, designed for those who desire even more thrust and an even more seamless livability.<\/span><\/p>

PRESTIGE M8 EVO: The Sea Trial<\/h2>

We cast off, and right from the first moments, I perceive that the music down below has changed. While the previous model was equipped with a pair of 600 hp Volvo D8s (more than sufficient for cruising smoothly at 15 knots), the<\/span> PRESTIGE M8 Evo<\/b> raises the bar and accommodates two powerful 730 hp MAN i6 engines in the engine room.<\/span><\/p>

What does a difference of 260 horsepower mean on a large power catamaran that exceeds 52 metric tons at full load? It means a power reserve that changes the boat’s character. As soon as I open the throttle outside the harbor, the in-line six-cylinder engines respond with an exciting smoothness and responsiveness. The cat, however, remains unflustered; the attitude stays rock-solid and stable, typical of twin hulls (or large superyachts), but the acceleration is distinctly more vigorous.<\/span><\/p>

We reach cruising speed with just a touch of throttle, lulled by the quietness of impeccable soundproofing. The extra push from the MAN engines doesn’t just shave knots off the top speed; it translates into a more dynamic ride, capable of tackling waves with even greater authority. When navigating in rough seas, having such a power reserve at the throttles is an invaluable guarantee of safety.<\/span><\/p>

And fuel consumption? It is surprising how optimized the hull is, continuing to maintain remarkable efficiency while respecting the DNA of the original model. A premise demonstrated by an incredible consumption of approximately 5 liters per mile at 10 knots, which, for a vessel like this, is very low indeed. If we truly want to enjoy cruising while taking in the scenery at speeds between 7 and 8 knots, thanks to the 3,700-liter fuel tank, we could cover more than 1,500 miles without refueling, with extremely low emissions and consuming roughly 2.5 liters of fuel per mile traveled.<\/span><\/p>

Naturally, as you accelerate, fuel consumption increases; however, considering that the recorded top speed reaches 21 knots, with this performance the Prestige M8 Evo also offers us the ability to reach a destination quickly or escape bad weather if necessary.<\/span><\/p>

The New Main Deck Layout: A Loft Across the Waves<\/h2>

But the true magic of the new Prestige M8 Evo reveals itself when you leave the helm and experience the spaces. The main deck has been completely redesigned. If the 50-square-meter salon on the first M8 seemed huge to you, the new layout will leave you breathless.<\/span><\/p>

The architects worked meticulously to eliminate visual and physical barriers, emphasizing the astonishing maximum beam of nearly 9 meters (8.85 m to be exact). The new layout creates a seamless continuum between the aft cockpit and the interior living area. The feeling is no longer that of stepping “inside” a boat, but of strolling on an endless covered terrace. The living area, with redesigned furniture geometry, now allows for an even more logical flow: pathways toward the dining area and bow are more open, making the environment incredibly airy.<\/span><\/p>

There is the atmosphere of a true floating loft, where natural light pours in powerfully through the immense windows, breaking down the boundary between inside and outside. Even the connection with the famous hydraulic swim platform (over 4 meters wide, transforming into an exclusive water-level beach club) feels visually more harmonious, projecting anyone sitting on the sofa directly toward the horizon.<\/span><\/p>

Finally, the new layout makes room for an indoor helm station that is now complete and features two large displays. From these, in addition to managing navigation, you can comfortably control the onboard home automation system. It is a smart solution that, while bringing the management of onboard comfort closer, gives the Prestige M8 Evo a protected helm station to use in case of inclement weather.<\/span><\/p>

The New Master Cabin of Prestige M8 Evo<\/h2>

If the old layout of the master cabin had already thrilled us, the new design will manage to amaze even the most demanding owners. This new organization of space (as massive as before) manages to push the physical boundaries of this apartment (calling it a cabin is a clear understatement) far beyond its natural limits, thereby increasing the sense of perceived space.<\/span><\/p>

On the port side, we find the bathroom, which naturally features a large separate shower stall, while on the opposite side, a versatile area takes shape around a table, ideal as both a workstation and a paneling\/dressing space. A layout that, leveraging the maximum beam of the Prestige M8 Evo, optimizes the cabin’s livability and significantly elevates its level of comfort.<\/span><\/p>

The Flybridge<\/h2>

The redesign of the flybridge is another major highlight in favor of ergonomics. Here, all interruptions caused by heavy furnishings have been removed in favor of a clean, open layout that once again delivers an enhanced sense of space. In short, an upper deck that celebrates (luxurious) outdoor living.<\/span><\/p>

The Prestige M8 Evo is the answer for those who, having already tasted excellence, ask for “something more.” The new 730 hp MAN engines give the boat a vigor hidden beneath a cloak of extreme elegance, making this catamaran a perfect yacht for racking up miles without stress. Furthermore, the new spatial layout sublimates the onboard experience, raising the art of living on the sea to a higher level.<\/span><\/p>

If the M8 convinced me in 2023, this M8 Evo has completely spellbound me. It is the triumph of the power multihull, masterfully crafted, as always, by a great shipyard.<\/span><\/p>
