Welcome aboard the new *Rio Yachts Sport Coupé 50* , a 15-meter yacht that embodies the very essence of grand touring. I’m Luca D’Ambrosio, and in this video for *The International Yachting Media* , I’ll take you on an exclusive tour of a yacht designed to cover miles in the utmost comfort without ever going unnoticed.
In this comprehensive test, we put this yacht’s seakeeping abilities to the test. Below the waterline lies the reliability of a rock-solid in-line shaft drive. Powering us are two powerful Cummins QSM 715 six-cylinder engines with a displacement of 11 liters each, capable of delivering a combined output of 1,450 cavalli. We’ll analyze fuel consumption at various cruising speeds, planing performance (which begins as early as 12–13 knots), and top speed, which reached 34.1 knots in our test.
In addition to performance, we’ll take a comprehensive guided tour of both the exterior and the stunning interior. Starting from the aft cockpit with its convertible sun deck and folding table, we’ll move into the main salon—an extremely versatile space thanks to its retractable louvered roof, lowerable side windows, and large glass panels that create an open environment facing the sea. Below deck, we’ll explore the three cabins: the immense full-beam Master Cabin with a king-size bed and en-suite circular shower, the forward VIP cabin, and the third cabin with bunk beds—all featuring an ingenious and elegant layout.

❓ *FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):*
* *What is the actual fuel consumption of the Rio Yachts Sport Coupé 50?*
During our sea trial, we recorded excellent averages for a boat of this size. At a cruising speed of 20 knots (1,800 RPM), total fuel consumption is 140 liters per hour, equivalent to approximately 6.9 liters per mile. When increasing speed to 26 knots (approximately 2,000 RPM), fuel consumption rises to 180 liters per hour, or 7 liters per mile.
* *What kind of engine does it have, and what speed does it reach?*
The test boat is equipped with a very robust in-line transmission and features two 11-liter, six-cylinder Cummins QSM 715 engines, for a total of 1,450 cavalli. This configuration ensures rapid planing (12–13 knots), acceleration from 0 to 30 knots in a matter of seconds, and a recorded top speed of 34.1 knots.
* *How is the sleeping area configured?*
The below-deck layout features a total of three cabins. Amidships is a massive full-beam Master Cabin with a king-size bed and a luxurious circular shower stall separated from the bathroom. Forward is a bright VIP cabin with a queen-size bed, and there is a third cabin equipped with bunk beds (ideal for crew or guests). These last two cabins are served by a second large bathroom with a shower stall, which can also be used as a day toilet.
